Counter Sales Associate

Interstate + Lakeland Lumber, is seeking an Inside Counter Sales Associate for our newly renovated Shrub Oak, NY location.

To continue the commitment to servicing our customers, we are currently seeking an Inside Counter Sales Associate to join our Shrub Oak, NY, Inside Sales Associate team. The ideal candidate must have a can-do attitude, be a quick learner and get along well with others.

Summary/Objective: The Counter Salesperson is responsible for providing customers with outstanding customer service which includes Point-of-Sale in-person, phone, and by email sales communication. You will need to be knowledgeable about the lumber building materials and hardware accessories. This role needs to be able to follow the manager's directions and complete task as requested.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively
  • Ability to learn about our products and keep up to date product knowledge
  • Process sales in an accurate manner
  • Balance cash registers
  • Provide Outstanding Customer Service
  • Assisting customers who purchase /or pick-up merchandise at the store.
  • Process Sales Orders generated at the counter.
  • Provide customers with reliable information regarding product specifications and pricing.
  • Assisting team Members in servicing customers, answering phone calls, stocking merchandise and pulling orders for deliveries.
  • Process Cash sale returns and refund paperwork
  • Maintain cleanliness of counter area and ensuring merchandise displays remain stocked, current and neat
  • Ensure that store displays are categorized properly
  • Miscellaneous projects as assigned

Other Duties:

  • Assist with customers in the yard as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Competencies:

Reliable transportation; excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent negotiation skills; pro-active planning and time management skills required. Working knowledge of construction industry product knowledge and home building requirements Highly self-motivated and positive attitude

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Physical demands include lifting, carrying, standing, kneeling, and walking,

    Millwork Assistant

    Interstate + Lakeland Lumber, is seeking a Millwork Assistant for our custom millwork shop in Bethel, CT.

     

    Summary/Objective: We are seeking a Millwork Assistant to join our Mill Shop team.  The position requires an individual to assist the Lead Millwork Technicians as necessary, to achieve the desired productivity levels. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, learns quickly and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The position is responsible for general manufacturing duties involving handling of wood and related materials. This role also requires occasional Mill shop based deliveries

    Essential Functions:

    • Ability to determine and pull proper materials needed for each task.  

    • Physically able to lift heavy boards and sheets of plywood to process through various machinery in the production of goods.

    • Prepare products for finishing and/or shipping including but not limited to, filling nail holes and voids, sanding and priming of mouldings and millwork.

    • Must be able to safely operate the following: cut off saws, jointers, planers, table saws, shapers, sanders, pneumatic nail/staple guns, chop saws, routers, table saws, hand tools and other various specialty machinery to manufacture components from lumber, plywood and other wood products.  

    • Must be able to exercise independent judgment when undertaking assignments.

    • Must be able to safely use dangerous powerful machinery and wear personal safety devices such as safety glasses, hearing protection guards and safety shields at all times.

    • Maintain a safe working environment, identifying and correcting potential safety concerns and hazards.

    • Packaging finished products to ship by palletizing, stretch wrapping and banding.

    • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions, paying attention to details.

    • Work on a production line within a team concept

    • Ability to produce final product with in the project deadlines.

    • Maintain machines and tools on a daily basis.

    • Maintain cleanliness of shop, performs routine service on equipment 

    • Assist lead workers as necessary and performs other duties as required.

    • Make shop-based deliveries when needed

    Competencies:

    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

    • Ability to meet project deadlines

    • Practical mathematics and measuring skills 

    • Must follow company policies, safety instructions and wear required protective equipment.

    • Able to function effectively as part of a production team.

    Required Education and Experience:

    • 1 to 3 years or Carpentry/Woodworking/Constructions experience
    • Prior Assembly experience
    • Manufacturing – Mill Shop 3-5 years

    • Must be able to follow directions + follow specific work procedures/steps
    • Experience with hand and power tools
    • Experience with reading architectural shop drawings
    • High Mathematical aptitude

    Work Schedule: Monday to Friday  6:30am to 3:30pm

    Hardware Sales Associate

    Interstate + Lakeland Lumber, is seeking an Hardware Sales Associate for our Greenwich, CT showroom location.

    We are currently looking to add an additional Hardware Sales Associate to our sales team. The position requires you sell high-end architectural hardware to products to interior designers, architects, general contractors, and developers. An integral part of the role is to build relationships with vendors and client, as well as become a trusted high value resource in the building community. The ideal candidate needs to have prior hardware sales experience, be a quick learner, team player, and have a can-do attitude.

     

    Essential Functions:

    • Ability to learn about new products and keep up to date new products in the market.

    • Greets and assists clients with finding the best products that suits their needs and provides them with quotes.

    • Responsible for building and maintaining a relationship with new and existing clients, hardware distributors, and other relevant partners

    • Actively collaborate with the sales team, and provide product recommendations aimed at increasing revenue in the hardware business

    • Provides quotes and process orders in an accurate and timely manner

    • Negotiates vendor terms, pricing and delivery

    • Responsible for entire sales cycle, starting with initial quote, placing orders, and arranging for order pick up or delivery

    • Arranges for return and credit of defective product

    • Assists inside and outside sales associates with questions and orders

    • Adheres to company policies, processes and procedures

    • Process Cash sale returns and refund paperwork

    • Provide support to outside salesmen which may require traveling to job sites

    • Source new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls and emails


    Other Duties:

    ·        Assist with sales at counter as needed.

    ·        Assist with answering phones as needed.

    To continue the commitment to servicing our customers, we are currently looking for a detail detailed oriented individual to join our team as a Data Entry Sales Support Clerk.  This position will support members of our sales team in our Stamford, CT location.  The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, quick learner and have the ability to work efficiently in a very fast paced environment. 

    Essential Functions:

    • Generating building material quotes as per salesman requests

    • Entering customer and account data from source documents within time limits 

    • Compiling, verifying accuracy and sorting information to prepare source data for computer entry

    • Reviewing data for deficiencies or errors, correcting any incompatibilities and checking output

    • processing quotes timely and accurately

    • Ability to follow instructions, pay attention to detail and communicate effectively with internal and external parties.

    • Ability to learn about the products we sell

    • Properly code and input customer orders, pricing information and additional data into computer sales software, (Kerridge Commercial Systems) .

    • Ability to learn our sales software and keep up to date with systems upgrades

    • Adheres to company policies, processes and procedures
